Students may be entered for ballet exams only when they meet the following criteria:

Demonstrated competency in required syllabus level
Strong posture, alignment, and coordination
Ability to perform set exercises confidently and safely
✔ Attendance Requirements
Minimum attendance (commonly 75–85% of classes)
Consistent participation in lessons leading up to the exam
✔ Teacher Recommendation
Final decision rests with the teacher
Students must show discipline, focus, and progress
✔ Behaviour & Commitment
Positive attitude in class
Ability to follow instructions and work independently
Pointe work is strictly controlled for safety and long-term development.
Minimum Requirements
Typically 11–13 years old (depends on physical development, not just age)
At least 2–3 years of consistent ballet training
Minimum 1–2 classes per week (often more recommended)
Physical Readiness
Students must demonstrate:
Strong ankle and foot stability
Core strength and balance
Proper turnout from hips (not forced)
Good alignment (no rolling ankles or sickling)
Assessment
Teacher evaluation (sometimes with physiotherapist input)
Pre-pointe assessment exercises
No injuries or conditions that could be worsened by pointe
Teacher Approval
Pointe work is never self-selected
Students may only begin pointe after explicit teacher permission
To reduce injury risk:
Proper Equipment
Professionally fitted pointe shoes
Use of toe pads, ribbons, elastics as required
Shoes must be well-maintained and replaced when worn
Gradual Progression
Begin with barre work only
Progress slowly to centre work
Limited time en pointe in early stages
Restrictions
No pointe work at home without supervision
No forcing turnout or going en pointe prematurely
Immediate reporting of pain or injury
Students must be physically fit and injury-free
Adequate rest, nutrition, and hydration encouraged
Teachers may pause pointe training if concerns arise
Parents must acknowledge risks of pointe work
Agreement to follow school and teacher guidance
Commitment to proper footwear and attendance
Correct uniform and grooming
Punctual arrival
Respectful conduct toward examiners and peers
No jewellery (unless permitted)
